Washi Cashmere

Warm White + Black

Fr 719

Washi has been actively produced in Japan since the Nara period (710-794), mainly in Toyama. In recent years, it has come to be recognized as a uniquely Japanese fiber. Washi has a special porous structure, which makes it more moisture absorbent, quick-drying, deodorant, and UV effective than linen. Normally, a technique called „slit yarn“ is used to produce yarn by cutting ultra-thin washi into thin strips. However, by using soft and stretchy washi yarn produced by a special manufacturing method and knitting it with cashmere yarn, which has the opposite properties, we have created a unique Japanese product that combines the smooth feel, warmth, and luster of cashmere with the firmness and functionality of washi. The result is a material that combines the smooth feel, warmth, and luster of cashmere with the stiffness and functionality of Japanese paper.

This is a high-neck pullover with a AMI collar that makes the most of the firm knitting fabric. The knitting structure tends to be heavy and dull, but the bulging of cashmere and the stretch-stopping yarn of Japanese paper make this knit light and comfortable.
