Still by Hand

“Unique enough, and yet basic”
This is how some store from Europe once described the products of STILL BY HAND.

Plain, simple and yet detailed - If this is the kind of clothes you are after, our brand can offer you something. Something you can wear, probably not to show off, but to make your every day a little bit different.

And that is, in truth, what we are after.

Brand Info
Designer Yusuke Yanagi started the brand In the year of 2000 after returning home from his fashion studies in the U.K. and working for a Japanese company for a few years. He initially started producing small collections in this year and then in 2009, when the company Style Department was established with the brand, STILL BY HAND started offering its full collections.

Now the brand is in its 14th year of production. Its attentively-put-together clothes have been well received and are currently carried by around 60 select shops, such as Steven Alan JAPAN (UNITED ARROWS), inside its own country.

Since it decided to go international in the year of 2015 and introduced its newly-sized collection aimed at the international market, it has had 15 successful seasons in Paris and NYC and, as a result, started working with over 50 exquisite stores in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.

The brand's basic rules are to make its products with Japanese fabrics, in Japan, with an open-minded approach to the colours. The nature of the country, which is vertically fairly long and has distinguished four seasons, always has a significant influence on what it creates.

Designer of the brand is also in charge of its production team. And he believes that the knowledge he's gained in the process of doing both “design” and “production” over 15 years contributes to making the brand somewhat different from the others.

We produce our items preserving and cherishing tiny little details that are often eliminated in the mass production on the assembly line. Our customers will hopefully find them as they wear the clothes everyday and share the feeling that their clothes are made still by hand.

We work with multiple factories all over the country to get the best results out of them and the range of their locations is truly diverse: Aomori(furthest North), Iwate, Niigata, Gunma, Tokyo, Ghifu, Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima(furthest South), etc..
